Our Approach

We're not positive-only, and we're not old-school rough. We reward good behaviour with food, pats and praise, and we also use fair corrections and tools like e-collars, set to the minimum effective level for each individual dog.

Good to Know

Walks are solo by default, and only ever two dogs from the same household together.

We work with all dogs, with the exception of very reactive or very aggressive dogs, who will be referred to highly qualified canine behaviourists.

We Train You As Much As We Train Your Dog

A dog that only listens to the trainer is no good to you. That's why every program is split 50/50 — half the sessions are us and your dog, and the other half are you and your dog, with us showing you exactly how to get the same results we do.

During The Week

Trainer & Dog

We pick up your dog and do the heavy lifting — teaching the new skill, working through distractions, and getting it reliable. Your dog learns what's expected before we hand the lead to you.

Usually On The Weekend

You & Your Dog

We show you what we taught during the week and coach you through it. You run the session, and by the end your dog is listening to you — not just to us. It's a great way to see the changes as they happen.

How It Looks In Practice

Take Bombproof in Public for example — 10 sessions over 5 weeks. Each week, one session is us and your dog during the week, and the other is you and your dog on the weekend. That rhythm runs through the whole program.

One Session A Day, Every Day

On top of our weekly sessions, we ask every client to do one short session a day with their dog at home. It doesn't take long — a few minutes is enough — but it's what locks the training in. You reinforce what we taught during the week, and your dog learns the new behaviour holds everywhere, not just when the trainer's there.

Common Questions

Anything else you'd like to know, ask at your free assessment.

We're based in Gympie and service the surrounding Wide Bay Region. If you're unsure whether you're in our area, book a free assessment and we'll let you know — if we can't get to you, we'll say so upfront.

We often see changes as soon as the first session, but every dog is different. The daily sessions you do at home are what lock the progress in — the more consistently you do them, the faster your dog improves. By the handover at the end of your program, your dog should be reliably responding to you.

We work with most dogs, but very reactive or very aggressive dogs are referred to highly qualified canine behaviourists who specialise in those cases. We'll be honest with you at the free assessment if that's the better path for your dog.

Just your dog, their usual lead and collar, and a list of anything you'd like to work on. We'll bring everything else. The first session is a free 30-minute assessment — we meet you and your dog, talk through what's going on, and map out a plan.

We ask every client to do one short session a day with their dog at home. It only takes a few minutes, but it's the single biggest factor in how fast your dog progresses. Training doesn't stick if it only happens when the trainer's there.

Every training program includes lifetime support by text and phone. If something slips, reach out and we'll talk you through it. We also offer refresher sessions and graduate outings if you want to top things up.

No. For the trainer-and-dog sessions during the week, we pick up your dog and do the work. You don't need to be there. The weekend session is the one where you're involved — that's where we teach you what we did during the week.

Yes, and they're one of the most misunderstood tools in dog training. To be clear — e-collars are not shock collars. We use modern, low-level stimulation that works like a TENS massage machine — a gentle sensation that gets your dog's attention, not a punishment. We use them to communicate clearly with your dog at a distance and around distractions that would otherwise make recall and reliability impossible. They're never used to hurt or scare a dog, and we'll show you exactly how they work before anything goes on your dog. E-collars are completely optional — if they're not something you're comfortable with, we'll tailor your program without them. A full breakdown of how and why we use them is included in all client paperwork, so you'll have everything in writing before you decide.
